Beachcomber Island resort, Fiji
This island is one of the Mamanuca Islands and it is ridiculously small. We’re talking, walk around the whole island in seven minutes, type of small! It’s branded as Fiji’s party island but there weren’t many people staying there while we were there so it was pretty quiet. Perhaps it’s different at peak times!
We didn’t mind though, chilling on the beach all day and night is totally fine with me! This was island number four out of four on our island hopping trip with Awesome Adventures Fiji. As with all these islands, it’s a lovely place to snorkel with reef around the island, although the coral isn’t quite as impressive as in the Yasawa Islands. The staff also run two free snorkelling ‘trips’ each day (weather permitting) where they take you out on a boat to the edge of the reef that stretches out from the rear of the island.
The resort also runs a turtle conservation programme with nearby Treasure Island, and they also do a talk each day on this work. I loved this as you get to go see some of the young turtles they are raising for release back into the wild. It wasn’t quite as exciting as releasing baby turtles in Bali, but it was still so lush, I can never tire of seeing these beautiful animals!
