Epic views from the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb
If you look up at the Sydney Harbour Bridge at any given time of the day, you can usually see people walking along the top of it. It might look terrifyingly high, but, if you’ve got the money, you should definitely give it a go!
The climb is pretty expensive, so it’s not always on the backpacker’s agenda, but we were lucky enough to have it given as an amazing leaving gift from my wonderful parents! We did the Twilight Climb and we absolutely LOVED every minute. It took quite a long time – about three hours – but it flew by and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend any less time up there. The scariest bit is actually right at the beginning when you have some ladders to climb, but when you get onto the main bridge you’re waking up a thick, solid steel beam that’s about four metres wide. So you can’t look down below your feet, you can just enjoy looking out at the view!
As it was the Twilight climb we climbed up as the sun came down so we could take in the beauty of the harbour and opera house with the sun shining. Then we watched the sunset from the top of the bridge, before making our way down as the city lit up. It was just perfect getting to see that incredible view in all those different lights!
The only bit that I didn’t enjoy was having to get a group photo for the only complimentary photo you get… I know this sounds antisocial but you don’t get to speak to the others as you’re all in a line. So you really don’t want that photo and it’s awkward haha
It’s an expensive tour when you consider we paid the same sort of price for three days on Fraser Island. But it is AMAZING and one of my favourite things we’ve done in Australia! Sydney Harbour is just stunning and there can’t be many better ways to see it!
