Le Beun’eze restaurant – Il d’Oleron, France
Il d’Oleron is a small island off of the coast near Bordeaux, which is attached to the mainland by a bridge. It’s really beautiful with some lovely beaches, although it is in an estuary so the water is a little murky.
When we went there the weather was a bit cloudy and rubbish, so we sought the sanctuary of a restaurant and struck gold with Le Beun’eze! It doesn’t look too special from the outside, but we were all blown away with our meals.
Being so coastal, it’s a really great fish restaurant, although it does so other stuff too. It served up honestly the best fish soup (main pic) I’ve ever had! It had tomato in it and just a little bite, and was served up with sour cream, parmesan and croutons. I could’ve eaten another 8 bowls I swear! I then had mussels marinara with chips and it was a massive portion, I couldn’t get it all in. I didn’t note down the prices but it was all reasonably priced, especially considering how good it was!
