The Skiathos Sailing catamaran trip
“The best day of your holidays” – that’s what Captain George tells you, and that’s what you get!
Setting sail on the Evdora catamaran will set you back €40, but you’ll feel like a millionaire as you pull out of Skiathos Town’s harbour sitting on the bow with a maximum of 10 people on board.
The trip takes you over to Skopelos to a natural rocky harbour for some snorkelling, the beach where Mamma Mia was filmed, and a stop for lunch at a taverna in a small port. Lunch consists of a drink, a greek salad with tzatsiki to start, and a main course of your choice (the seafood spaghetti is a real treat and HUGE!) for just €10.
The boat then heads back towards Skiathos with a stop at a small island called Argos with beautiful white sands, and sometimes another stop at the similarly beautiful Tsougria.
The stops are all lovely, but being on the catamaran itself is part of the thrill. Captain George provides a few glasses (plastic cups) of wine for you to enjoy while you lay out on the boat’s net and soak up the rays. If you’re really lucky you’ll spot dolphins on the cruise between Skiathos and Skopelos. And if you’re really, really, lucky, as I was once, the dolphins will come and play around the boat swimming underneath the net that you’re sat on!
The trip is nothing short of perfection, and if the weather is bad, in true Skiathos spirit Captain George is always happy to rearrange or take you out again. Visit his Facebook page for more info, you can book ahead or find him on the main stretch of the harbour in Skiathos Town.
